Dental Hygienist
The Dental Hygienist position involves providing preventive patient maintenance care, treatment procedures, clerical duties, charting maintenance, and managing recall systems. Hygienists receive general supervision from dentists regarding patient treatment procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms (stocking, sterilization, setup)
- Greet patients and introduce the position
- Update patient health histories at each visit
- Educate patients on oral health needs and treatment options
- Provide Soft Tissue Management and develop personalized home care programs
- Document all procedures and chart patient conditions
- Perform prophylaxes, scaling, sealant application, restoration polishing, and fluoride treatments
- Oversee non-surgical periodontal programs
- Expose and develop radiographs
- Manage preventive maintenance and recall systems
- Maintain inventory and sterilization duties
- Perform routine work independently
Minimum Requirements
- Current state licensure in Dental Hygiene
- Certification from accredited dental hygiene school (2-4 years)
- Knowledge of dental charting software and digital x-rays
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Computer literacy
- Professional appearance and manner
- Ability to lift 15-20 lbs
